The Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, Prime Minister’s museum is a commendable addition to New Delhi’s cultural landscape. It offers a comprehensive and engaging journey through the lives and legacies of India’s Prime Ministers, providing valuable insights into the nation’s development since independence.
Features: There are two different complexes- one old heritage building and one newly constructed swanky top- notch building. The galleries are well-curated and visually appealing with a mix of artifacts, multimedia presentations, and interactive displays. The information is presented in a clear and concise manner, making it accessible to Persons with Disabilities and visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
Location: It is Situated in Teen Murti Bhavan New Delhi, India and is easily accessible by public transport.
Crowds: The museum can get quite crowded, especially during peak season and weekends post lunch. This can make it difficult for PWDs to navigate through the exhibits, interact and fully appreciate the displays. Early visit between 11am to 1pm preferably during weekdays is advisable. Having timed ticketing or designating specific slots for large groups could help manage the flow of visitors.
Key Highlights for a must to do activities: There are some interactive elements, like photo op with the Prime Minister, walk with the Prime Minister, Prime Minister Hand- written letter for you, Chain of Unity photo- op, your vision/message to the Prime Minister, interactive quiz area, etc. However, they could be expanded to further engage tiny tots and younger visitors and provide a more hands-on interactive learning experience to them as well.
Food and beverage: Food and beverage options are restricted. There’s a Cafe just outside the newly constructed complex offering a wider range of food and beverage options.
Entry fee: Ticket charges are nominal. Ticket could be booked online or can be taken on the spot for the entry and for other add on services.
Final takeaway: The Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya is quite an elite, niche place and a must-visit for anyone interested in Indian heritage, history and politics. It offers a unique and insightful perspective on the nation’s journey since independence and the individuals who have shaped it.
