Post Covid, several online schools have come into existence in the country. These are not physical schools that have decided to opt for an online mode of imparting class lessons, but standalone online schools, that are accredited. Online mode of schooling gained popularity during Covid and these online schools have continued their operations ever since.
Many parents who choose to homeschool their wards (whether neurotypical or neurodiverse) have opted for these online schools. But a word of caution, for parents/caregivers opting for these schools for their neurodiverse children who may require additional supports in learning, accommodations and adaptations in the curriculum, or evaluation systems or expectations of attendance in the online classes, submission of class projects etc, have to be discussed in advance with the school, prior to taking admissions.
Being online, doesn’t necessarily translate into ease of learning. The curriculum may not be adapted to suit the needs of diverse learners, there may be several demands on the individual to attend the lectures, participate in group activities or submit projects etc. Taking all of these into account, may help the parent or caregiver make an informed decision about their ward’s education.
Sharing some names of online schools, now available in the country.
