Empowering Educators: Yuvaan Research Foundation’s Teacher Training Workshop
In its ongoing efforts to promote inclusive education, Yuvaan Research Foundation recently conducted a comprehensive teacher training workshop for the teachers of Delhi Area Primary School-2, on 7th December 2024. The workshop, held under the expert guidance of Ms. Hema Gowri, aimed to equip educators with the knowledge, skills, and strategies necessary to create an inclusive learning environment in a mainstream school.
The Importance of Inclusive Learning
Ms. Hema Gowri, a renowned rehabilitation professional with over three decades of experience, emphasized the significance of inclusive learning in the school environment. She highlighted the need for educators to recognize and cater to the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities.
Disability-Focused Teaching Methods and Strategies
Throughout the workshop, Ms. Gowri delved into various disabilities, including physical, cognitive, emotional, and sensory disabilities. She discussed different teaching methods, aids, accommodations, modifications, adaptations, and methodologies that can be employed to support students with diverse needs.
The workshop covered a range of topics, including:
1. Visual Impairments: Strategies for teaching students with visual impairments, including Braille, tactile graphics, and assistive technology.
2. Hearing Impairments: Methods for supporting students with hearing impairments, including sign language, amplification systems, and communication strategies.
3. Physical Disabilities: Adaptations and modifications for students with physical disabilities, including wheelchair accessibility, adaptive equipment, and physical therapy.
4. Cognitive and Emotional Disabilities: Strategies for supporting students with cognitive and emotional disabilities, including individualized education plans, behavioral interventions, and counseling.
5. Sensory Disabilities: Methods for supporting students with sensory disabilities, including sensory integration techniques, sensory-friendly environments, and assistive technology.
