Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities with Yuvaan Research Foundation

Yuvaan Research Foundation, SpecialSaathi is proud to celebrate the spirit of International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd. The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is observed annually on December 3rd.

Theme: Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future.

This year’s theme recognizes the vital role persons with disabilities play in creating a more inclusive and sustainable world. It emphasizes the importance of their participation in decision-making processes.

Key Goals and Call to Action:

1. Promote leadership of persons with disabilities in all areas of life.
2. Ensure inclusion in all aspects of society.
3. Increase participation in decision-making processes.
4. Raise awareness of the rights of persons with disabilities.
5. Celebrate the achievements of persons with disabilities.”

Check out our intern Kabir Vernal’s design, highlighting the importance of inclusion and participation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of society.

Kabir is a 13-year-old boy on the Autism Spectrum. He communicates via echolalic phrases and his communication is need based. He enjoys the process of creating art, often choosing the colour palette and the subject of his art.
A neurodiverse mind has a special way of looking at colours and textures and they have an eye for details. Abstract expression through colours, comes naturally to Kabir. He has a distinct vision of what the art piece, should look like and chooses his colour palette accordingly.
His artwork styles include abstract expressionism, abstract floral art (with loose
brush strokes) and process art. He enjoys playing with various textures. Kabir loves spending time outdoors amidst nature and his art is greatly inspired by Nature and his natural surroundings.

His artworks have been showcased in various National and International Art Exhibitions and he has been feted for the same. He had his first Solo Art Exhibition, in Arpana Art Gallery, New Delhi, in September 2023.
Kabir won a 2nd position, in the Children’s category of the International Art Competition, “The Future”, curated by Jordanian artist, Janaritta Armooti and the Embassy of India, in Amman, Jordan, in November 2023. 
Recently, he was awarded the Bronze Award at the Busan International Art Festival, held in Busan, South Korea in October 2024.
