Yuvaan Research Foundation Conducts Play Therapy Workshop at DAPS, Delhi Cantt
November 4, 2024, marked a significant day for the students of Delhi Area Primary School-1 (DAPS) in Delhi Cantt, as Yuvaan Research Foundation conducted a Play Therapy workshop. Led by Shilpi Mayank Awasthi, Founder-Director Yuvaan Research Foundation, the session was expertly facilitated by renowned Special Educator, Certified Play Therapist, and Child and Adolescent Counselor, Ms. Simmi Vasu and Ms. Anju Rani.
The Power of Play
Play is often misunderstood as merely a form of entertainment for children. However, it is a fundamental right of every child, essential for their cognitive, emotional, and social development. Through play, children:
â—ŹDevelop problem-solving skills
â—ŹBuild resilience
â—ŹLearn to navigate complex emotions
â—ŹEnhance creativity and imagination
â—ŹFoster social connections and empathy
Exceptional Student Participation
The participation of students was exceptional, showcasing the true spirit of inclusivity. The Special Educational Needs (SEN) students, with Neurodivergence, Cerebral Palsy, Hearing Impairments, and locomotor disabilities, demonstrated that there is indeed ability beyond disability.
Alongside their Neurotypical (NT) peers, the SEN students participated whole-heartedly, displaying unparalleled enthusiasm and eagerness. This harmonious blend of diversity and inclusivity was a heartwarming testament to the power of play based learning.
Workshop Highlights
The Play Therapy workshop utilized various play-based activities, including:
â—ŹWhole body movement
â—ŹImagination
â—ŹFine and gross motor skills balance
â—ŹTurn-taking
â—ŹCamaraderie and more
