A Day in the Life -1
Ananth and I have been exploring many therapies and educational approaches for more than two decades. In this series of articles, I will share what we have learned, how our thinking has evolved over time, our choices, impacts of our choices on our daily rhythms and life, and ideas, tips, and techniques for parents and professionals to consider.

Looking back, there are two big ideas that I wish I had known earlier:
1) Nervous system harmony, and
2) Interoception.
A third big idea that receives little attention in discussions that I have seen in parent groups in coregulation.
While I have known about and explored co-regulation for over 20 years, our recent explorations of nervous system harmony and interoception have given me a different perspective on co-regulation.
Tip of the Week: Evolve daily rhythms for promoting nervous system harmony.
What we have learned over the last 20 years
Nervous system regulation is an ongoing process that cannot be addressed by reacting to and managing behaviors.
I. Mental Models Matter
Focusing on nervous system harmony as the core organizing idea shifts how we live our lives. We are mindful of activities in our daily rhythms. Even our concept of family fun is evolving and is aligned with nervous system harmony. For example, during our recent trip to London we chose calming experiences such as walks in nature and serene sounds concerts.
We are now working on a series of e-books that are rooted in the concept of nervous system harmony as the foundation for daily rhythms, family fun, and learning.

III. How our Life is Evolving
Ananth and I have written several articles that describe the effect of this focus on nervous system harmony on our daily rhythms and life. The first three articles describe how our daily rhythms are evolving. The last two articles describe how even our concept of family fun is evolving and changing the experiences we have together as a family.
