Chasing Longevity: importance of Metabolic health and nutrition

Our lives aren’t important for us but for our kids. We owe our kids our good health, so that we can help them achieve better things.

Keep in mind this list is the list that one can get checked if you feel fine or okay, and if you have any particular symptom then that needs to be investigated more thoroughly, if you have severe fatigue severe insomnia or any specific pain or ache or symptom then that needs to be investigated more thoroughly. This lab panel can be for people who feel generally healthy, even in that state you need this full panel checked at least once a year starting probably about the age of 30 because metabolic disease and chronic inappropriate inflammation are very common in modern society and it starts rooting in our system even earlier. We can get a good enough picture of our overall health from the tiny amount of lab work.
1. CBC, (Complete Blood Count). this looks for crucial components in the blood including Haemoglobin, Red & White Blood Cells, which can be a marker of infection or inflammation if it goes up.
2. Lipid Profile : commonly known as Cholesterol test. In this panel, we have to look for TG/HDL ratio. It’s a major risk factor for metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease (CVD), and Insulin Resistance (IR).
3. Vitamin D & B12
4. Thyroid panel :
5. HbA1C : is a test for pre-Diabetes & Diabetes.
6. Fasting & PP Insulin & Fasting & PP Glucose : These are a very
crucial tests to check for Insulin Resistance, which is a marker for lots of diseases. We calculate Homeostatic Model Assessment for Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR) with these two markers.
fasting glucose (mg/dL) X fasting insulin (mU/L) / 405 (for SI units: fasting glucose (mmol/L) X fasting insulin (mU/L) / 22.5)
a value greater than 2 indicates insulin resistance.
7. Iron Level : esp. women.
8. c-reactive protein

We need to find the root cause of the problems not a band-aid, and for that blood markers are the best start. Data collected is always be helpful. If there is smoke in the data, there certainly is fire going on inside, and we can easily douse that fire with proper nutrition.
