In this blog I will discuss about various activities undertaken by us as part of early intervention therapies and the same were done in a scheduled time i.e. 2 hrs in the morning, 2 hrs in the afternoon by her mother and 2 hrs in the evening. Following are the summary of few activities carried out in each session.
1. Counting with Dots: Dots were put in a shape of fruit/ vegetable and asked Simi to cut the dots with counting followed by joining, colouring and writing the name. This helped Simi in development of number concept, eye hand coordination, colour concept, recognition of items etc.
The following Picture 1 will help to understand the activity:

2. Writing Hindi Letter word vis-à-vis English Letter word (Phonetics)
3. Writing A-Z in Capital and Small Letter
4. Dictating 3–4-digit numbers and asked Simi to write the same.
The following Picture 2 will help to understand the activity 2,3 & 4:

5. Counting of Numbers 1-50 and Reverse Counting from 50-1:
This has a significant impact on the developmental milestone of Simi. Counting down from 20 or 50 helps calm the mind and reduce anxiety by redirecting focus away from stressors. Counting backwards helps children in many ways. It helps improve their logical reasoning and is also an early way to teach them financial literacy. With due practice Simi could able to do reverse counting 100-1 without any mistake.
6. Recognition and Description of Photos:
In this activity, Padmaja used to paste picture in a Drawing book and asked Simi to describe the photo. Picture description is important in language development because it allows for a deeper understanding and interpretation of visual art, providing a way to communicate and analyse the details and emotions within a picture. It is a fun approach to encourage kids to read and improve their comprehension skill. By describing what is seen in the picture in short terms, they can start to understand how to continue reading.
One of the many such activities of Simi is given below in picture 3 & 4:

Description of above picture done by Simi is as under:

7. Fill in the Blanks:
Writing a-z leaving few letters blank, writing numbers in ascending order leaving few numbers blank and asked Simi to fill up the blanks. This helped Simi in learning alphabets and number system in a very fun way. One of the activities done by Simi is given below in Picture 5. The circled letter & number were put blank which she had filled.

In my next blog, I will write about some more fun based activity as part of early intervention therapy techniques used by us.
